Introducing a European Leader to the American Market
When Aurubis, one of the world's largest copper producers, announced plans to build the first secondary multimetal recycling smelter of its kind in the United States, the project represented far more than a major industrial investment. The facility would strengthen domestic supply chains, expand U.S. recycling capacity, and create hundreds of jobs – but it also required earning the confidence of regulators, elected officials, local communities, and other stakeholders.

Since 2022, Agenda has partnered with Aurubis Corporate in Hamburg and Aurubis Richmond to support communications throughout the project's development. The engagement has included executive communications, stakeholder engagement, crisis preparedness, media relations, speechwriting, and strategic event planning for milestones including the Augusta groundbreaking and facility commissioning, along with a high-profile event with the First Lady of the U.S. Agenda also helped translate Aurubis' European sustainability and circular economy commitments into messaging that resonated with American audiences while supporting engagement with state and federal leaders.
As the project progressed, Aurubis' investment grew past $800M and into one of the largest international manufacturing efforts in Georgia and a cornerstone of the company's North American strategy. By helping communicate the project's economic, environmental, and strategic value, Agenda supported Aurubis as it established its reputation in a new market and positioned the company as an important contributor to America's growing critical minerals and industrial supply chains.
